Helping you build an online presence for your offline business.

This site has one purpose in mind and that is to show you how to start & build an online presence for your offline business.

Be you a plumber, a carpenter, a lawyer, an electrician, run a bakery, a florist, a mechanic, have a dental practice or be any other type of service provider you must have an online ‘window’ to display your offerings.

What would happen if a potential client looked for your business online right now, what would they find? Perhaps a negative article written about your business from the local paper or a negative online customer review, a website that hasn’t been updated since it was launched or worse - nothing at all?

Many service related business people fall into one of the following categories where their online presence is one or more of the following:
  • only their own personal social media accounts
  • what other people say about their business without any knowledge
  • a website that hasn’t been updated in years
  • nothing at all

If one or more the above applies to you then you’re in the right place.

Having a business online presence is more than just having a website where people can read about your company, see your services and order from you. Its how a person finds, follows and connects with your business online.

There are 4 things as a minimum you have to do in order to build a web presence for your business;
  • get listed locally by Google, Bing or Yahoo
  • be on the local map
  • have people commenting on your business
  • have a business domain name and email

But these are just the first steps, once you’ve got this far you’ll then need to grow your online visibility even further.  Very close behind these is adding video, establishing a website and more. We can help you develop that business online presence even further.

5 mistakes Small Businesses shouldn't make Online

1. Failing to understand the basics of a business online presence

2. Having unreasonable expectations – it just won’t happen overnight
3. Having a poor quality website - you need a professional website
4. Not making Google central, but not exclusive, to their efforts
5. Misunderstanding what social media can do for their business

Are the Yellow Pages obsolete?

Before we say anything, take a look at the Yell share price (that's pence on the left axis not pounds). In 2007 it peaked at £6.33 and in 2011 it was down to 4-5p, who knows where it is now.

That decline was not all down to the economic situation; people just search online rather than thumb through the big heavy books.

By all means sign-up for the free online service as this is a good way to get a link to your site. But we wouldn't recommend paying for an advert.
Personally we’d suggest you put your effort into a Google Places page, a nice website, building your online presence, getting customer reviews etc. Is your advert going to end up tossed away?

If you're worried that customers will stop coming through the door if you cancel your ad, you must know it's working...or do you? If you don't know it's working why pay to use the service.

Spend your money building your visibility online instead of on adverts that people might see.
